Hire Movers and Start Packing

Don’t wait until the last minute to hire your movers or reserve your moving truck. There are limited resources and depending on the season, they could be very busy. The last thing anyone wants is for you to be stressed out and stuck in a jam on moving day!

Packing will inevitably take longer than you expect. Step one is to prepare your packing supplies. You will need boxes, tape, markers, paper/bubble wrap/something similar, etc. Often times you can get used boxes from Uhaul. You can also check Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, your neighborhood Nextdoor page, or local grocery stores. Your realtor might be able to help you with packing supplies as well.

As your packing, an easy way to differentiate your boxes is to use a different color of tape for each room. This way, your friends/movers/etc will more easily be able to put the boxes in a place that makes the most sense. Blue – bathroom, red – kitchen, green – master bedroom, etc.

Don’t forget about your kids/furry friend on moving day. While it can be difficult to find help, it will be much less stressful for all involved if your kiddos and pets are out of the way on moving day.
